1800 oliver gas, metal shavings :(

well i think my oliver 1800c finally ate a bearing possibly. its been running really funky lately.. thought it was starving for fuel cause ive had that issue before. went through entire fuel system found some little things and fixed, brand new carb as well.. checked temp on all cyilinders and they are all firing. but you can just hear it struggling then once past a certain rpm it runs fine. good spark all the way through. pulled dip stick and i see its sparkling. so im guessing main bearings.

Well I just dropped the oil, not as bad as I thought super fine sparkles.. still not good. But I dont know.. unsure why shes running so bad.

Well took the temp gun after changing out oil and checked cylinders, the second and third from the tractor seat forward are reading low.

You might want to do a compression check, or check the valve clearances.

If the oil has white metal in it and you think it has run a bearing, why are you continuing to run it?

I believe you want to park that thing.

I learned years ago, the hard way.

My 190XT was starting to lope, and lose power occasionally one day. I was moving hay(it's my loader tractor). I thought I had fuel problems, due to the loping, and the occasional lugging/lack of power.

As the day wore on, it became harder to start also. Acted like a dead battery.

Finished out the day, and headed back to the house, which is about 3mi away by road. The engine got worse, and was intermittently putting out very black smoke.

I had just made it to the front gate, and dropped down to idle in order to get off and open the gate. The engine seized up right then and there.

I haven't had time to pull the motor, but I'm betting the crank spun a bearing.

Bought another 190XT that week to replace the seized one. I had no alternative. I built my FEL to fit the 190, and had to have an identical tractor to mount it on.

Fast forward about 4 years, and the "new" Allis started doing the same thing while moving hay. I shut that sucker down in a heartbeat. I didn't let it seize. Towed it home,, and hopefully saved the crank.

IF you can find a machinable crank, and IF you can find a reputable shop that can line bore the block, you might be facing an enormous bill if you keep running the thing.

I know it's a tough call if it's a working tractor. You need them every day. But if it's not a working tractor, you can afford to park it until you find out what's wrong.

Ya she wont even start. When it started doing that, it has become
a 30 min thing to start her. So now Im looking for a 354 perk to
put in it. Got the 1850 belly already
