Oliver 1800 number one plug

I am going to install a electronic ignition on my 1800 and I don't know which is my number one plug so I can do the timing. Is it the front plug or the back plug?

Front plug is number 1

Camshaft timing end of engine was, historically, always the front of the engine block.

Same with any marks for conrod fitment - always made on the camshaft side. A sensible convention.
