1650 PTO Adjustment

I've got a PTO issue with my 1650. It wasn't shutting off completely with the lever back, and so I backed off the PTO adjuster ring as well as adjusted the lever linkage. That did help slow shaft down with lever back, but backing off adjuster ring reduced the snap when pushing lever forward and recently I had PTO slippage when cutting some thick hay. I've tightened the adjuster ring to reduce the slippage, but of course the shaft is spinning now all the time. Some fluid/housing heat in the back as well.

Is there any additional adjustments that can be done or do I need to tear into the PTO clutch to see if discs are warped/worn? Thanks for the help.

I believe you can adjust the lever so it has more pressure in the off position so it can apply the PTO brake when it is disengaged. Its been awhile since I adjusted mine so maybe someone can confirm this.

Normally is it just the metal discs that are warped and need to be replaced in this situation? Or do the friction discs need to be replaced as well at the same time.

to an extent, yes. there's more thread than angle to use it though, and i think he did that already, by his original post.

replace the clutch pack.
