Father in law needs help.
2-85 diesel Perkins in a 1755.
Today he tried tightening this shoulder
screw below the bleed screw, the shoulder
screw wouldn't tighten up, just sets there
and keeps turning, he was able to get
bleed screw tight, but diesel seeps under
that shoulder screw.

Is there a shim or seal under this
shoulder screw
There's a red dot on this nut , you can see in the picture

So, to understand you, the 1/4 threads of the little bolt are stripped, not the cover?

Thanks for the help, we appreciate it! GG, Wes

The COVER threads are stripped as it's softer aluminum. The steel fitting threads I've never seen strip in my forty-five plus years and counting if injection pump repair. For best results the control cover needs replaced.
