1550 Hydraulic Cylinder leaks

Hi:

The loader cylinder on our 1550 is leaking and I would like to take it apart to fix. The problem is that it is resisting coming apart. From what I can see there is an end cap and then a clip under the cap and then the unit should separate. The cap does not seem to be threaded as I cannot see/feel threads. The clip is broken and I was able to remove two sections of it but the rest is under the cap and I cannot figure a way rotate to get more pieces out.

Attached is a picture of the cylinder end.

Thanks for your thoughts.

That cap may need to be pushed in and have its own retaining ring.

Hi scootergmc:

That would have been an easy fix, but no. There is no clip to hold the cap in place.

The centre of the cap looks to be a seal. I am thinking the cap is friction fit in the cylinder. The cap is not hard steel and when I use a punch to move it the cap shows a depression. I just do not see anything holding it in place.
