Oliver Hydraulics Mysteries

Three point now seems to work! Guess sitting a couple of days helped it.
Now trying for hydraulic lift and lower for the John Deere 42 pull type combine.
I should mention this combine has ONE CYLINDER FOR LIFTING AND SOME TYPE OF BLEEDER FOR LOWERING.
Hooked to far right coupler of set on right rear of tractor. It lifted combine, but slowly lowered.
Hooked to next coupler of same set. No lift, just a chatter
Hooked to far left coupler on left side. Header went up and stays up!!!
What do I do?

Down by your right heel as you're sitting on the tractor, there's a fine threaded bolt that takes a 3/4 wrench. It has a thin lock nut on it that's up against the casting. Turn that bolt out two or three turns then turn the lock nut back against the casting. That bolt has to be turned out to create a bypass for a one way cylinder to lower. The catch is, the 3 point won't work with it out, so if you want the 3pt left up, leave it up when you turn the bolt out.

Along with what rr said, for a single acting it needs to be connected to the BASE port and the bleed screw opened three turns. The Base ports have a drop restricting screw to vary the drop speed. It could be closed down for a slow drop.
