Waukesha 283G Oil Relief Plunger

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a oil relief plunger for the 283G? The parts manual has it as 1h-302-a. I can find the spring, just not the plunger.

Thank you,

Noah

More out of anticipation. If a replacement
didn't exist for the plunger, I'd have to
order the oil pump assy which
coincidentally is just as much as the
rebuild kit for the block.

I've got the cap sprayed with penetrant oil right now; it wouldn't budge yesterday.

Well I wouldn't go hunting for parts unless you need to. I'd check the pickup screen and I don't know if there's supposed to be a restrictor in the oil filter housing tube on this model, but I'd check both of those.

Use a 7/16 fine threading die. It will fit tight in the plunger so you can turn it and pull it out.

I was able to get it out. I took the Napa penetrant catalyst and it ended up getting it loose. Can definitely tell where it's been binding.

Have any ideas as to why I have no oil pressure now (only when cranking and very minimal time running) but oil gushes out the bell housing?

There could be countless reasons. It sounds like you have multiple issues going on. My guess would be a seal is blown. We're really shooting in the dark now.

Drained the pan (around 4 gallons because
there's a ton of gasoline in the oil, I
assume because that's from the carb just
dumping fuel). Looked at the sump, and
there was a bit of blockage from excessive
RTV usage. However, in the screen cover I
found two gaskets, 10MM OD, 8MM ID, and
2MM in thickness. I'm utterly confused
now. Other than that, no shavings bigger
than a few microns in one spot. 99%
certain this engine has been rebuilt; I
don't see any witness marks on the cap
bolts.

I believe that tractor has a fuel pump on the right side of the engine with a bad diaphragm and that is how you got gas in the oil pan.

I believe you're correct. I replaced the
diaphragm not long ago because I saw the
material had been ruptured. However, there
is no fuel pump on the tractor. It's
gravity fed from a sediment bowl straight
from the tank.
