1800C Gas Intake Valve Seals

I bought a decent 1800 with a year-round
cab that from day one (and I got it at a
good rate because of it) was burning rich.
No big deal; rebuild the carb and it
starts just fine, but it still burns rich.

Now oil streaks down the side of the block
from the exhaust manifolds and I'm getting
enough back pressure into the crankcase
that it's pushing oil out the filler cap.
Compression test showed 140+ consistently
across all 6 cylinders, so I know it's not
rings or seats. This pointed me to the oil
seal around the intake valve as the manual
I have doesn't seem to have one for the
exhaust.

However, I cannot seem to find or track
down any valve seal and valve seal guard
that are clearly marked in the manual.
Jensales doesn't even carry it for the
diesel either. Can someone point me in the
right direction for the valve seals for
the Waukesha 283 gas motor? I've searched
all I can and still can't find a
replacement for them. Thank you in
advance!

I'll check tonight. We're scrambling to get the corn in today before the rain.

Thanks for the pointer; I'm going to feel pretty ignorant if that's the case.

However, what would cause the plugs to be fowled and running rich? I've tried nearly everything with the carb and no adjustment makes any difference so I still think I'm getting oil in the chamber.

I checked the breather tube and it's got flow through it.

However, I do want to make mention that oil isn't just coming out of the filler cap area. It's coming out from behind the exhaust manifold where it meets the head, and it's dripping pretty profusely out from the clutch housing, specifically a little hole at the bottom.

From the parts manual I see an oil relief
valve. Looks like on my unit it's just a
bolt head. Not sure what to do with it.

So to make sure it's not stuck closed,
what's the procedure? Pull the pan and
check the pump as well as pulling the cap
and spring?

I'd start by pulling the cap and checking out the spring and plunger. If the plunger is binding it won't open fully and allow the proper relief.

Have you put a known good mechanical gauge on a port to see what your pressure is?

So I put a new gauge in it (oil line comes
off the back of the block, I assume that's
factory). Before I started having issues,
idle would be around 30 lbs., Load was
about 55. Now when it runs for the short
time it does, I can't get more than 15
lbs.
