1550 Holley Distibutor

So we have a Holley on our 1650. It was shot. Put electronic guts in it and that is acting up also. Dad got fed up and ordered a distributor for it and will be going back to points style again. I believe the new one is a Delco but I havent seen it yet.

I have been bolting the sliding block the points are mounted to down so it can not move. The block wears and the point setting cannot be maintained. Take the vacumm advance off and clip the link. Put it back on to keep dirt out. Remove the vacumm line and plug the hole at the manifold. Before doing all this make sure the rest of the dist is ok. Shaft bearings, fly weights, etc. OR if the tach isn't important just get an old Delco out of and old 77, S77, 88, S88, etc. All Waukesha blocks are the same depth. We have a 1850 that has had an old Delco in it for years. And the cheapest and quickest thing you can do. The tach doesn't seem important when feeding bales.

I did what you've recommended to the distributor on my 1850 gas that was running rough and that did the trick. If you search the Oliver forum you can find more info on what to do.
