White 4-175

A White 4-175 has come available. Owner says that something sheared in transmission. Neighbor of mine knows the Cockshutt and White tractor quite well and has several of these units. This is in Alberta so the Olivers are painted red around here. Always wanted a 4-225 but you are likely to find a unicorn. If the tranny is not too hard to fix would you find a 3208T to repower with or a 8.3 Cummings like out of a Workhorse series of tractor? It has 5800 hrs so that is likely the lifespan of 3208 anyways. The 4-175 has only 126 drawbar hp which is less than my Allis 8070 and would like a bit more power. Would the tranny and diffs hold up to around 250 engine hp.

i think them have the lighter duty rearends, like the 2-105, 4-225 is a whole different ball game rear end wise, so i dont think it would support 250hp

I knew the local dealer when these were sold. He told me that the tractors were ok for harrowing or towing a sprayer but not heavy enough for tillage.
The 3208 can run up towards 10,000 hours but if neglected their life span is limited. Company I worked for had dozens of them in Body job chassis that
pumped fluids and had well over 7500 hours on them before they retired them. All were driven to auction and most had second lives as grain trucks.
