Red Stripe 2-105

In what years were the red stripe 2-105 White tractors made and is there any difference between that model and the earlier ones without the red stripe?

The red stripes started after the sale to TIC in late 1980. I think they were red striped in 1981 and 1982, until the 2-110 came out in 1982. The frames were charcoal grey with the DOT 4 Perkins.

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me as I could be wrong.

I think you are correct? I don't know if they made red stripes in '80, but for sure in '81 and '82. They made 105s in early '82 and 110s in late '82,
so there are '82 models of both.

So a tractor that I am looking at has a red stripe but it says White on the upper panel, Field Boss on front side panels and White above the head lights. It does not say WFE on the red stripe or above the head lights. I can see it was repainted and it looks like someone may have tried to make it look newer. I need to see the serial number I guess.

Would it be possible on the transition from White to WFE that this red stripe would be authentic? Even though it says WHITE in the big block letters where the red strip is, the 2-105 is part of the stripe, not on the lower front panels that I have seen. It also seems to say White Farm Equipment in smaller letters at the bottom near the back of the red stripe. Trying to figure out if it is legit or a dupont overhaul of sorts. You can see where they touched up the front wheel rims and got paint all over the tire.

So it looks like this one? https://www.auctiontime.com/listings/farm-equipment/auction-results/199467747/1981-white-2-105

What's interesting about the tractor I linked in that auction is that the serial number corresponds to a 1979, not a 1981 as indicated in the auction description.

I sure wouldn't swear to it, but I THOUGHT somebody said at one time that the real red stripe 105s and the 110s had more rivets in the differential or some such thing. No knowledge of it myself though. If you've found one with a red stripe and its earlier than an 81, I'd bet somebody has just dressed it up at some point. A year or two before I bought mine, the dealer had one sitting there with 110 decals. When I walked out and looked at it, it was an old 105. My Series 3 2-135 has the wrong decals on it. The originals said Series 3 on them. I repainted the cab roof and the side panels. When the parts gal and I were looking in the parts book, we stopped too soon and ordered the early red stripes by mistake. They don't say Series 2 on them, just 2-135.

That is not a factory red stripe. I have seen several that were done like the one in the picture, but not out of the factory. Once they started with WFE, everything said WFE, including the back window. Does it say WM anywhere on the manifold?
