Hello looking at the new pumps for a 1850 on line they look like a generic wood spliter
pump ( with splined drive )with a housing bolted to the back has anyone put a pump in a
1850 that was not listed as a replacement ?? if so what pump was used ?? Thanks Bryan

When my brother in law had the local white dealership he told me he would go down to the local Princess Auto store and buy a pump. Then send it to a machine shop that would match the splines to fit in the Oliver/ Cockshutt tractors. Not sure what the equivalent store would be in the US.

I tried to do this last time I put in a pump but got short of time and had to spent a bunch of money for a new pump. I should start on it now also and have one on my shelf for the next change out. I figure I can save at least $500 bucks if I can modify a generic pump vs. Buying one through AGCO.

AGCO is way too high on those pumps anyway. You can get them aftermarket for less than a quarter of what ACGO gets.

If I remember correct, the pump actually came from Hycapacity which is jobber parts anyways isnt it? The new pump was north of 800$ Canadian. I know that a pump I bought 10 years earlier was only $250 but it was done and dusted in less than 5 years. Also from Hycap. I think that if the pump only ever runs the steering and the odd implement cylinder than the pumps would easily last 15 to 20 years. I dont get more than 5 years on a hydraulic pump with the loader tractors. I saw an 1850 this year that had a hydraulic pump connected to the aux. shaft by the fuel injection pump that ran it loader hydraulics. I would really like to see some pictures of that installation up close. I hope to do that to my tractors. Not sure I want a PTO driven one. Just seems like a pain when you go to run a baler or haybine.
