770 backhoe clanking noise and wondering on weight

Looking at a 770 backhoe with front loader. It's to far away to just go look. I will bring it home if I go. The owner says its making loud noise from bell housing even in neutral. Seems he said sparks are coming out too. Any idea what's causing it? Are any parts available for these? It has a reverse.
Also what's your guesses on weight? Thank you.

Did he ever break the nose cone off the starter and not retrieve it? I broke the one off of my 1550 and found it when I put a new
clutch in it. I'd forgot all about it.

Maybe parts of the throw out, or clutch.
Thank you. That would make since. For some reason I was thinking a torque converter was in there.

Thanks Gary. Thought I saw a clutch pedal and it does have a shifter. I assumed the reverse was between the bell housing and trans but I'm not familiar with them.
