2255 tub

Are 2255 tubs all the same? Does it matter whether they
came with a 3150 or 3208? How common was it to cut the
tub to get to the starter?

The starters are a bear to remove and put back in. On one, I found I just had to shave an edge off on my 3150. On the 3208 it came out without any modification. I would guess they are the same but never really spec's it out.

There is tub part number change at 236000, but not sure what the differance is. 3208 used the same same later tub part number.

Could the change be that the frame was drilled and tapped for the rear engine mount? Early rear engine supports were dealer installed on the 2255s because the lack caused the transfer case seal to leak (if I remember correctly).
