Are there any tried and true somewhat easy methods to removing the starter from a White 4-150 with the Cat 3208 engine?

Two strong arms and some patience. They have twelve point socket cap screws holding them on and you have to use different extensions and ratchets to get in there. Three bolts. And did I mention that they're ungodly heavy? Best advice I can give you is to install a NEW one the first time you take the old one off. They're about $299 dollars brand new and work great. I goofed around with my original one trying to get it to work and took it off a couple times. New one has been on now for better than 15 years and has never failed to crank over perfectly. With two NEW batteries, good cables and a NEW starter you will be good to go. Don't mess with the old one. Throw it in the bottom of a lake.
