Are you selling any fats currently? Price a bit south and west of me is going for around that 1.13-1.17 range. What is it your
way?

Two weeks ago at the sale barn, the results they put online said a top of $1.15. I took four fat heifers last week, got $1.06 and $1.07, they said online the top was $1.125. I just took one to a USDA slaughterhouse this morning, private treaty deal that had been priced for a while, I took $1.10.

I would guess those same animals would get that 1.15 plus price in the locations I was talking about. Do you ever watch the online cattle auctions on cattle usa?

Naw, I never do. The sale results at the UPI sale barn in St Louis Mi where I sell are always a few cents lower than the Cass City location for some reason. I'm not going to take them all the way to Cass City though, just too long of a trip. If I hired a hauler to take them that far, the trucking would eat up the difference. Kinda like basis in the grain market I guess. I'll just keep feeling lucky that we even have a decent market as close to home as we do.
