1850 Gas Valve Cover Clearance

I am planning to adjust the valves on my 1850 gas soon. The valve cover has nuts on studs that hold it on. There is not a lot of clearance between the
cover and the bottom of the fuel tank.
Does the fuel tank have to be raised or removed to take the valve cover off?

I was hoping I could raise the valve cover enough to slide it to one side and maybe rotate it out of there.

Perhaps on the gas engine there may be some more clearance between the fuel tank and rocker cover? I'm just trying to picture in my mind that on a perkins that valve cover is not coming out of there without hinging that fuel up at least a little bit.
