88 belt pulley drive

The 88 I'm working on has a belt pulley set up but no pulley on it. I have tried but it will not turn. What all is involved in deleting the belt pulley?? Do I just need an cover for where it bolts to the transmission or do I need to change a shaft in the transmission? I will probably either sell the 88 or the 880 this year, is it any more valuable with the belt pulley on it? I guess now would be the time to get it so it would turn, but doubt that it would be worth the time or effort. What say ye??

Belt pulley in place or not, I do not think it will make much difference in the selling price. If it is going to be used as a pulling tractor it will be removed to save weight. There is no need to change the input shaft to install the pulley delete cover. One benefit of not having the pulley gearbox in place is future clutch replacement is much easier.

Korves website says you need the top cover gasket, but I do not remember pulling the top cover when I took the belt pulley out of our 77.

(quoted from post at 08:16:18 01/25/21) So I just need a cover on the shaft? I'd rather it was off. Thanks

There is a small casting that needs to go on in place of the belt pulley drive that the clutch return spring also hooks to. Korves sells a kit that has all you need except that plug, as mentioned, that you need to put in one of the holes in the front of the transmission where the oil would flow through.
