Worked on the 88 this afternoon

It got up in the mid 30°'s this afternoon, so I worked on the 88 a while. I had to rearange a couple of tractors, but got it pulled under the frame to lift the motor out. Started to take the gas tank off. Somebody welded in a new battery plate and the front of it is clear up against the gas tank so it can't come out until I move the motor forward or take the instrument panel loose from the frame. I guess it will have to wait until I get the motor loose and try to pull it forwards enough to get it out. I got the Char Lynn torque generator loose and the lower roll pin out of the steering shaft. The block drain just has a plug in it, I had to heat it to get it to move, but got it out and drained the block. Unhooked the wires from the generator and coil and got them out of the way. Not much, but some progress. Sounds like it will be cold and snowy most of the week so probably won't do too much more for a while. I'm thinking that when I get the motor out I should cut some off of the battery tray and weld it back on so the tank can come off easier if there is a next time.
