1650 steering

Steering was working fine as I pulled the tractor into the shop. Removed motor replace rear seal, swapped narrow front for wide front. After completion drove tractor from shop started losing steering to the right then to the left wheel will turn left and right but tires do not follow I still have three point and remote hydraulics at the proportioning valve I pulled the front plunger had appeared to have no debris. Any help would be thankful

When I say tires will not follow it is not because steering shaft is broke. There is heavy resistance on the steering wheel but no action at the

Is there a chance that you pinched a steering line between the engine and the frame when you pulled/ removed engine? I suggest that you also take out the flow divider valve and make sure there are no debris in that. Last year I found a dime sized piece of light gauge metal in the steering flow control on an 1850 that was giving my steering fits. How it got there is a mystery.

Check the yoke that attaches the shaft to the tie rods. I had a similar problem couple years ago, would turn one direction but not the other. Posted and RRLund said to check that part. Replaced it no more issues.

Thanks for the reply but it's in the Hydraulics nothing is broke mechanically. Steering wheel is very hard to turn and no hydraulic action

Thanks for the reply. Nope inch blinds I pulled the plunger at the priority valve did not appear to be anything there

Sorry Albert I use the microphone for typing easier to talk than it is to type. But it doesn't always catch the words correctly. No pinched lines and as I said I pulled the diverter valve apart check the plunger everything appeared to be clean. Thank you

I have a similar problem on a 1655, will turn right just like it should, left it drags and turns hard at the wheel but it will slowly turn. If I lift the front end off the ground it will work better but not correct. have pulled plunger in flow divider but all seems ok. Have not pulled the complete flow divider yet but seems to me that the flow divider would not be the issue as it does work correctly turning right.

It’s very strange that it should act up when you did not touch any of the hydraulic circuits. Have you tried jacking up the front end and working the steering back and forth. What you describe almost sounds like it’s not getting enough hydraulic pressure. I have struggled with steering when haying up some steep hills in our fields. If the hyd reservoir gets too low the pumps starves a bit going up the steep inclines which becomes very apparent in th3 steering. Maybe you need to bleed the steering circuit to release some trapped air?

No sir. Only disconected 2 at cooler and 2 at rack$pinion box and they are correct. It worked for bout 5 to 10 mins.seams like air but book says its self bleading

I have not got a chance to get back to it yet. My reservoir is full and as I say my 3-point works good and the remotes with nothing hooked up bottom out and drag the Tractor Down. The book says that the system is self bleeding I tend to disagree with that

This is sure pointing to a problem with the priority valve if it worked for five or ten minutes.
