Hi John,
You have helped me before and I'm hopeful you can again! Oliver 550 gas. I have 2 problems. #1 Power Steering. Pump tests at about 1000 psi. Cylinders tested with air and don't seem to be leaking internally. Changed the steering control valve. Still steers very hard. Would steer way better if it had manual steering. Plan to change the hoses from the steering control valve to the cylinders as I think the previous owner used brake lines and they may be too small. Any other ideas on this one?

Problem #2
Leaking trans oil out the pto shaft. It is leaking out the center where the stub shaft goes in. Outside seal has been replaced and it is fine. So I'm confident it's the "O" ring or rings inside that are the issue. The question is how do you change those? Go down from the top or do you need to pull the entire shaft out the back??

Hoping you have some insight to these issues. Thanks again for your help and for helping so many on this forum.

disconnect the power steering and see if manual is easier, if it is you have the pump working against you, wrong directional flow. Could be mechanical. Take the weight off the front wheels and work the steering, you might just work it out.

Pump can do 2 things, make it easier or harder, if it's pumping, easier is the right direction, harder is the wrong direction. Put the hoses on wrong once, it was harder.

In what kind of shape are the front pivot pin and axle bore in? What about the spindles?

If those pivot points are worn, it will be considerably harder to steer.
