Nichols and Shepard

In 1929 when Oliver merged with Hart Parr, the Nichols and Shepard combines was one leg of that new company. This pull type machine graced the large fields of the West. How many people would guess they offered 20 foot headers in the latter 30's.

the thing is crop yields in those days were low. maybe 20 bu./ac. a 20 ft width with todays 30 year old combines is small but it still would do 100 bu./ac. crops quite easily. that old combine would not handle that kind of crop even on a slow go.
