Does anyone know what the agco part number is for the quad ring in the 1850 steering pump or the seal kit? Cant seem to find it in the parts book. Thanks

Those kind of things are quite easy to get from your local hydraulic store. You will need the old one for a sample. We have a Massey dealer locally who is very good at this and keeps a good supply of seals, etc

When taking the steering gear out of the steering box does the snap ring have to come out? I read somewhere that it doesn't and all that needs to be done is loosen the bolt and the gear pops off, but mine isn't working. The bolt is loose but the gear is stuck on the shaft. Has anyone done this before? I think if the bolt was out I could get a puller in there to take the gear off but the snap ring is pretty tight.

It's been a long time since I had one apart, don't remember about the snap ring, but guessing it has to come out. The bolt IS the puller! Just crank away on it and it will push the gear right out. Be sure you get the timing marks lined up when you go back together.

I had one stuck so tight in a 1600 that it curled the snap ring right up out if it. I had to take the bolt out of the steering arm and push the shaft and gear out from the bottom. Never had one do that before or since.

I'm thinking the bolt in the steering box snapped because it just spins and now I can't re tighten it. I tried to bust the snap ring out but still nothing. How did you take the whole gear and shaft out? Did you leave the front axle on? The engine is out of the tractor so it's easy to work on now but I'm stuck on how to get this gear out. An easy job turned into a very difficult one.

Wide front correct? On a narrow front, I don't know how you'd do it, but wide front, turn the front wheels all the way, then take the pinch bolt out of the steering arm. It has to come all the way out because there's a groove in the shaft that it goes through. You'll have to turn it one way to get the nut off, then the other way to get the bolt out. Just stick a bar between the tire and spindle to turn it. Once the bolt is out, you can either push the shaft up and out or lift the whole steering cylinder out after taking the nut off the brace arm.
