880 Idle Speed

I had time today and it was warm enough to take my gloves off, so I got the 880 gas back together after replacing the governor bushing. I set it according to the book and it runs good, accellerates smooth and no surging. I&T manual says idle speed is 375 rpm unless it has a magneto and then 500 rpm. It dies before I can get it that low, it seems happy around 700 rpm. It has a Zenith carb, I tried adjusting the idle screw and it would die before getting below 500 rpm. What speed should it idle at?? Thanks, Chris

probably need a carb cleaning, due to idle circuit not clean. should be no problem to idle at 400 rpm.

Just did clean the carb and put in a throttle shaft on the 880 gas. But it still runs way too lean. I have to choke it to get it to smooth out above idle.
Will check the main jet size. It's a Marvel Schebler TSX775 on mine and this carb was also used on 550/660 so the main jet may have been mixed up. It acts like there is a vacuum leak.
