Sold the 70

I sure hate to see an Oliver go down the road, but I just couldn't get motivated to do anything with that tractor. I've had it for 20 years. I got it out a few weeks ago after it sat in the toolshed for eight or ten years, thought I could get back in to it, but the passion for it wasn't there. I was just going to finish it because I had it, but somebody else wanted it more.

I'll put the money back in to something that sparks some interest. If I can find an earlier style, 35, 36 or 37 maybe. I know of an 1800A gas narrow front. I've been wanting one of those since I was 5 years old. In the meantime. I don't have any projects sitting around for the first time in a real long time.

I have lost all motivation to work on any of mine. I hope it comes back someday. I would like to have a 1800 A someday aswell but I dont have the drive to work on them right now.

I put a brand new pair of 11.2 38 rear tires on my one owner 66 yesterday. I hated to do it, but one of the originals went bad on a
tractor drive Memorial Weekend. I tried to find another decent matching 10 38, but couldn't, so I went with a new pair. I've got a
two bottom Plow Master plow that I should fix up for plow days. It needs two tires, points and shins and needs the crank
straightened.

If I could find an early 70 like the one that replaced the horses here, I think I could get right in to that. They demonstrated a
new 1800A here for my uncle when I was a kid. I still remember sitting on Uncle Claud's lap and then Dad's on that thing. I'd love
to have one here now to restore.

I've had a plan too for a while now to find another 1550 or 1600 and make it look as small and cheap as I can. I want to put a
narrow front under it, 13.6 38 rears, clam shell fenders, a pan seat, small diameter muffler, just make it look the opposite of a
muscle tractor. That's another project that I could get right in to if I had a tractor here to do it with.

Randy when you say older style are you talking about the Hart Parr Oliver’s which were a real dark color ? With the grill that stuck out on the bottom ? I would love to own one of those!

Sorry to hear you are without a project Randy. Stop by the farm sometime if you are bored and dad will be glad to help out. Here is the list I have off the top of my head:

99 gas - Cab tractor with Ford V8 engine running LP gas, needs original engine installed and to be driven to museum and parked. Unfortunately, dad was too cheap to bid the $250 that it would have taken to purchase the original engine for this tractor at the same auction where we purchased this tractor. Anyway, you'll just need to rebuild the regulator and it runs fine.
1800 A - Engine stuck from sitting, was burning vegetable oil, running when parked! Engine pulled and sitting on shop floor in the way, please free up and reinstall.
1650LP - Running when parked, PO said it only needs steering work. Came from Tennessee, apparently over there it means something different when you say (only needs steering work).
1950T - Running when parked in center of field due to low oil pressure and slight engine noise in lower end, minor ventilation hole on passenger side of engine. Operator at the time says it was like that when he went to the field that day. New 310 block, pistons and sleeves sitting in shed. Gasket kit on north side of shop, top shelf.
1850 - Diesel, only needs water pump, yet has been sitting in our way for 7 years. New engine sitting in shed. Alternatively, new water pump on north side of shop, middle shelf.
1955 - Needs battery, and a job. Battery on south side of shop under bench. Jobs seems to be harder and harder to find these days.
2050 - Running when parked 30 years ago by previous owner, recently moved into our way. 2 replacement engines sitting in shed, just need a volunteer to pull the Herc and swap in a new one. You have that down to an art, right?
2150 - Needs rear main seal which gave out during spring field work this year. Almost more frustrating to repair than major engine troubles due to the amount of work required to replace said seal. While you're pulling the 2050 engine......
White 4-150 - Needs rear main seal. Running when parked, would make great yard art in someone else's yard. While you're working on rear main seals......
Oliver 2655LP - Needs cap and rotor, new spark plug wires and loving home. Have I mentioned how much I dislike working on Molines? Their technology was great in 1945, unfortunately they were still selling the same thing in 1965.
Oliver 1255 FWA - Transmission gear seized this spring while laying mulch beds. 50hp tractor that was used by PO as 150hp tractor, rear end housing is shot (which should surprise me but it does not) and trans needs rebuilt. Motor will not die, runs like a Rolex. Needs to be driven to edge of cliff and relocated to bottom of ocean, saving the engine. Unfortunately the farm is in Missouri and ocean availability is sparse nearby, so I will eventually Fix It Again Tony.
Oliver 1465 - Needs clutch. I know, I should just replace the clutch and get it back in service. You have splitting your Fiat down to a science, so this will be a breeze.
White 2-62 FWA - Amazing little Frankenstein of a tractor that dad pieced together from 2 salvage machines he found. Iseki builds one heck of an engine, the rest of it leaks like the Valdez. Have metric o-ring kit sitting on workbench, feel free to start on either side at either end and let me know when you run out of o-rings and seals. I have more.
White Backhoe - Needs hydraulics worked on, which on a backhoe are pretty much the only thing that needs to work. Its clear to me now that the only person harder on a piece of equipment than a Tennessee farmer is a backhoe operator.
Mitsubishi MT180HD - Runs approximately 3 rounds in the field and then dies. Fuel solenoid ordered, it will be there by the time you get there. Trust me, it's the fuel solenoid, not any of the other things you are thinking it should be, because I have tried all of them already. I remember when this tractor was purchased new, and can account for several of the hours that it has on it, even though it has never ran for more than an hour here or there without something going wrong. But this time we are gonna fix it and attempt to get enough hours on it to get it to its required first oil change!
White 6105 FWA - Won't start. New to us, always wanted a Lamborghini, now I have one just wish it would start. PO, Canadian guy, said the A/C worked and it always makes me chuckle when a Canadian says the A/C works in something. Living most of my adult life in Houston, I will never sell a tractor to a Canadian (mostly because we never sell any tractors) and tell him that the heater works. It only seems fair that they should reciprocate.
White 4-225 - Needs additional remove valve added to run crumbler. Rebuilt remote valves located in bucket marked White Remote Valves on west end of shop. New remote cables located near air compressor on east wall of shop. Note: I repaired the air compressor while at the farm over the 4th, you'll need it for many of these tasks......you are welcome. Spare levers to add additional remote valve located on bench on south wall. New remote couplers to replace all original couplers while you're at it located in box that is in the way as you walk into the shop.
White 2-180 FWA - Have rebuilt priority valve sitting on my workbench, just needs to be installed. Umbrella available on porch at house to use to cover yourself from the hydraulic oil that will leak onto your head while swapping priority valves. While you're adding remotes to the 4-225 and in the mood, there are 3 rebuilt remotes to replace the ones on this 2-180 also, including new couplers in same box that is in the way above.
White 2-105 - Very clean and straight, just needs engine, running when parked. Have 5.9 Cummins available but dad doesn't want to waste it on a 2-105. Also have brand new 6.354 available, but dad doesn't want to waste it on a 2-105. Makes you wonder what exactly isn't wasted on a 2-105. The answer is something that uses just slightly less oil than the existing Perkins that is already in it. As much as you like pulling the engine on a 2-105, I think this would make a great project for you! I promise I'll be there to help just as soon as you have the cab unbolted and fuel tank removed. BTW, it's full of fuel, remember it was running when parked.

Anyhow, stop by, we offer a guaranteed cure for boredom!

Ya,like the one in the picture with Uncle Earl driving it. I like that look with the flatter grill and the vertical louvers on the side curtains. We just never had a history around home here with the later style except for one that Dad traded a 50 Chevy pickup for and had for a week.

Ya, the 1465 doesn't sound like too bad of a job. The rest of it sounds like work. LOL

I pulled all of the weights off the front of my 1955. Don't have the money or the motivation to install a Cummins. Got a couple of guys interested. Time to move it. Should have spent the money on a Cummins the last time around.

I've still got a dozen tractors here. I'm not gonna buy another one just for the sake of having it. When I find something I really want, I'll buy it, meantime the thrill is in the hunt. I was super excited about those two 500s and that one owner 66. When I feel that way about one again, I'll bring it home. I think I'd even sell this gas 500 if somebody wanted it bad enough. I haven't even had that one started this year. It's sitting next to where the 70 had been for so long. I took the battery out of it last fall. The show in town that we usually have Memorial Day weekend was cancelled this year, so there wasn't any motivation to mess with it.
