PTO pump getting Hot

I was moving a few bales yesterday before removing the loader on the tractor I bought last summer. The loader has a PTO driven pump and I Only used the loader a bit over the winter. As it was really cold Dec to end of April never noticed how warm the pto driven pump gets. After a half hour of use being cycling on and off as required I noticed that it was much warmer than I would think is normal. For those other fellows who have PTO driven pumps for loader use, do you guys install coolers on them or maybe some thing wrong on my pump? My post pounder never gets this hot on its PTO driven pump and it will run continuous for a hour or two before I require a coffee break.

What tractor and loader are we playing with?

Define "warm", as in degrees?

Is it a 540 RPM pump on a 540 RPM PTO? (You say you recently bought it, one never knows what a P.O. might have adapted.)

A restriction of some sort in the line from the pump to the valve (or in the line from the valve to the tank if it's capable of withstanding pressure) would cause heating.

Also, if the loader valve happens to be a closed-center valve (or a convertible valve set up for closed center operation) the bypass would be operating continuously, heating the oil.

have 4 pto powered pumps on loaders, never had them get hot even loading manure or hay all day. you most likely have a restriction somewhere. valve bank should be a pass thru back to the reservoir when you are not operating a valve. is the valve bank made for a loader?

It’s on an 1850. Warm is like you can set your hand on pump body for 15 seconds before it really starts to feel uncomfortable. The valve bank looks plumbed ok to me. No too noisy and controls are smooth. I also noticed that the RHS fuel fender tank which was converted to the reservoir has pressured up at some point. Here are some pictures of the set up.
