I just brought these two tractors home in a package deal;
The Oliver 550 is complete and includes power steering, it needs rear tires and rims, the grill is busted and I would like to find a used grill for it. This is the third 550 I have had, so I am reasonably familiar with them. It is not running yet, so we will see what I find.
The Cockshutt 540 is new to me, I have not worked with them before and I must say I am impressed, it has some design improvements as compared to the Oliver 550s, such as an externally mounted hydraulic pump, PTO tail end clutch, heavy front axle pivot pin etc. I have the 540 running and it seems to run well, the fuel tank needs cleaned and I have yet to try the hydraulics, PTO or the three point hitch.
These two should keep me in the garage and out of trouble for a few weeks. My plan is to get them running and make sure everything works and then put them up for sale.
