CAV pump still dripping on 1850

I put a new seal kit on my spare CAV/1850 fuel pump a while back and put it to use this weekend. I am getting a drip every 30 seconds or so coming out of the circular breather or what ever that is on the front side of the fuel pump. The pump I took off was leaking from every where so it is waaaay better but I cant seem to get the drip to stop. Even changed the round thing out with one from another tractor that was not leaking before, and it still dripped the same. The little steel ball is definitely where it should be. Anyone have a thought as to why I am getting a drip from the vent? Drip does not seem to increase when engine speed is increased and tractor is running fine.

Those dampeners do start leaking with high hours, pumps I repair that dampener is removed. Pump will work fine without it, not sure why Perkins thought it was needed in the first place..

I was curious about it being necessary because I have seen Massey tractors without the round thingy on the pump. You will still need the stem part to hold the rest of the part on the body. Does the round part unthread from the stem?

It just screws out. Be careful not to loose that little ball behind it. Al Baker sent me one of those plugs last year for my White 2-105. I put that in and the leak stopped.

I will go to the local pump shop we’re I bought the kit later this week and see if they can sell me a plug to seal the pump up w/o the damper. Thanks for the advice.
