Can't get an old 70 down

This thing had been in the corner of the toolshed for at least 7 or 8 years. Three tires were flat and it was buried under a mountain of parts and odds and ends. I uncovered it, pulled it back and pumped the tires up. I put the charger on the old battery and after a while it started to take a charge. I cleaned the carb and points, put some fresh gas in it, jumped it straight to the starter with the pickup, gave it a shot of ether and it started. I just wish I was a little more fond of it. It was in the toolshed for so long because I'm not motivated to finish it.

What year is it, Randy? I had a 42 when I was in high school FFA. Your's looks close to that. Mine had 40 inch rubber on the back.

It's a 39 Jack. The tires are 11 40 Wards Riverside. The one on the left side is a little rough on the outside. I should swap them around so the bad side is on the inside on the right. There was an article several years ago in HOPC about an all original 39. That one was all green with an open center steering wheel, no red on it at all. Just a yellow grill and orange on the 70 on the front. If I ever get around to painting this one, I think that's how I'll paint it. I'm pretty sure this one had the open center steering wheel originally. There's no hole in the steering shaft for the screw that held the center cap. I've got a rear end down back for a different one and that shaft is drilled and tapped.
