Am reinstalling the flywheel on my 77. Two questions I need to address.
1. I put new lock washers on the bolts but am finding that they are splitting open as I tighten the bolts. I attribute that to being a cheaply made product that my local hardware store is selling. In reading up on lock washers, it seems that the current consensus is that the split type lock washers are actually useless in this situation and could be a detriment to proper torquing. Im thinking of going without them. Recommendation?
2. Now Im a wondering if I should buy a new set of bolts. Oddly to me, current ones do not have any grade markings on the head. Should I bother replacing them and if so should I use grade 8 for that?
