That 90 degree tach drive on my 1850 finally bit the dust. I wonder if the drive and cable from a 2-105 would work? I looked on the parts site to see how they mount on the 2-105s, but the schematic wasn't real helpful. On my 2-105 it has what looks like a compression nut or something, but the schematic doesn't show that. What holds that piece in the block? Does it just drive or press in?

I wonder if the cable turns the same speed on the 2-105 as it does on the 1850, or if I'd need the whole 2-105 tach to?

Hey rrlund I was just looking on EBay last night for 1850 parts. I seen a tach drive for sale and a few other parts for it. Just search Oliver 1850 on the main EBay site.

I'd have to have somebody else do it, I don't Ebay. I don't have an account.

I was just looking a little closer at the 2-105. I moved the AC hoses and actually looked instead of glancing across the toolshed. The nut I was seeing is on the end of the cable to hold it on. There's a hub that looks like it drives in where the big seal goes in to the 1850. I wonder if that timing shaft is the same? There's a 2-105 in a parts yard near here, but I don't want to go start knocking things apart on something that isn't mine.

Hi, Randy My 1850 has a MF motor out of a 750 combine in it, tach drive is off of the quill shaft, should be identical to your 2-105. I thought you said your motor came out of a White combine so I wonder if you have a quill shaft with the tack drive made into the end of it? Does yours have the short shaft sticking out for auxillary drive or is it like the 2-105? I have a tack for a 2-105 in mine. I can get pictures if you want, but it should be just like your 2-105. Chris

The engine's out of an 8700 White, ya. That's what Worthington had written on it with a paint pen anyway. The first picture is that engine, the second one is my 2-105. I see on the parts site that there's a serial number split. I don't know if the one in John Hall's boneyard is the same as mine or not. That shaft sticking out is the same as the one in the original engine out of my 1850.
