Hydropower fluid type A?

So I have a Cockshutt 1650 with a hydropower. The manual calls for Type A automatic transmission fluid. Just went to CARQUEST and they could not come up with anything type A. I was thinking of just draining it out, changing the filter and using Mobil 424. What have you guys done?

Don't do it. Use Dexron II or Merc/Dex combo. I've had the best luck with the Merc/Dex. Your hytran type oil is too slippery and it won't shift well. I switched my 1850 to hytran once and it hasn't shifted right since. I went back to Dexron and it was too late, the damage was done.

Mercon/Dexron is a direct replacement for Type A. Years ago there were two tranny fluids. Type A (GM) and type F (Ford). For a few years the Mercon/Dexron containers were labeled as industry replacements for type A.

My 1600 was never quite right, didn't want to stay in direct. I needed some on a Sunday one time and the only place I could get it was a gas station convenience store. All they had was Dex/Merc. I put that in it and it's worked good every since.
