Steering Gear follow-up question

Is there any reason I cannot change the seal on the steering worm bearing cover with the steering gear box still bolted in place? I don't have a hydraulic lift to handle removal of the front axle and don't think there is a need to rebuild the whole thing at this point.

John on the picture A-unknown you can replace the seal as the steering gear sits in the tractor. Just tale the 2 bolts out by the input shaft and the seal is in the cap that you can remove. It will probably leak whatever grease is in the gear housing.
The picture B-1951 you will have to remove the gear box from the front axle mount. Remove the steering sector and take 3 bolts our and the gear box should pull right out. If the front radiator cover has the bottom still in it you will have to remover the cover to get to the gear box. Hope that helps.
Thanks

Thanks John. It was picture A I meant to refer to on that. Fortunately or unfortunately no oil ran out when I opened the fill level plug which led me to believe the seal was bad. Hopefully a little runs out when I pull off the cover!
