1850 PTO delete

Is there anything special to do to remove the PTO unit from an 1850 for the purpose of putting a tractor pulling hitch on it? I know other makes the unit can be removed and then cover the opening with a flat plate. Is the 1850 the similar?

A PTO was an option. Oliver had a cover for tractors without a PTO that left you keep the PTO drive shaft so you could have hydraulics and power steering. A man down the road had 2 1850 tractors, one had a PTO he other one did not.
