Oliver 1650 gushing hydraulic oil from filler cap…

Bought 1965 Oliver 1650 last week. Honeymoon appears to be over. Connected to mixer grinder for the first time yesterday and after five minutes hydraulic oil started to gush from the fill/dipstick cap in front of the seat. Simultaneously coolant sprayed under the hood. Engine temp showed 160, fluids were checked recently and were all ok if a little dirty,
PTO disengage/Engage lever has to be firmly held in the in or out position in order to function don’t know if that’s related.
Appreciate any advice, manuals are in the mail meanwhile I need to get up
And running...
Thank you
Aubrey

Was anything running off the hydraulic and was the fluid overheated to boiling? I've had that happen when the system is on relief for too long. Where was the coolant spraying from? Possibly stuck thermostat. PTO clutch is unrelated, separate issue.

coolant was coming from under the cowling, hard To tell where exactly but probably where the hose attaches to the block, will try running without the thermostat to see if that s the problem. The hydraulic fluid was really hot, the remotes are hooked up to a loader but it wasn t under load, couldn t figure why the fluid would be Heated to overflowing if the Only pto is working. The levers on the remote don t line up perfect straight up but the bucket stops moving so I assume that s not it...what hydraulic fluid should I top it off with?
Thank you for the help, will let you know how it goes.
Also , the unrelated pto clutch problem any tips?

Does the handle on your PTO snap over center? It should take some effort on the handle to snap it over center. You are working the hydraulic controls against the relief valve! You need to find the source of that problem or you will ruin the pump! My e-mail is open.

(quoted from post at 13:38:03 05/27/20) I forgot to ask you if your 3 point lift arms have any free travel. No travel can make your oil heat up!
Sorry for stupid question but How would I check for travel on the lift arms?

With the 3 point all the way up and tractor running try to lift up on the outer end of the lower links, You should have say 3 inch of movement, Like I said send me an e-mail J.

tried to email but don t see address in profile, will check travel in the morning. No pressure on pto lever until you get to one end or the other.
Tractor does have loader but since I don t know Olivers it s hard for me to check which ports are being used until manual gets here end of the week. In the mean Time Borrowed a tractor to use until...
Thanks for all the help

ot the tractor up and running again and it is definitely the lift arms that caused the problem. There is no travel at the top of the lift and the tractor wants to keep lifting past where it is able. So it fights itself and overheats.. appreciate the tip.
Got pto control adjusted and it now snaps over as it should.
It does continue to turn when not engaged and not attached to anything.. unless you push it all the way back to brake it and latch it with the hook my tractor no longer has..
Which brings up two things, where can I find a new pto disengage latch.
Also how do you Easily hook up pto equipment if The pto driveshaft wont spin freely to line up the splines?
