Good morning,

I recently made another post about the Hydraulic pump idler gear etc here... https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=oliver&th=226932

However.. I wanted to make a separate post about fluid specifications and capacities.

The info I have so far is.

Cockshutt/Oliver 1550 (1966 year?)
-Gasoline motor
-Model number :355-21137
-Serial number: 201 861-504

-Hydra-drive 2 speed transmission
-hydro-electric 3pt

I do not believe it has depth stop cylinder system.
Can someone help me with these specs and capacities for the following items. Please correct me if I am wrong. Or more if I am missing some!

*Engine oil w/filter-
5.75 quarts (SAE 10w)

*Hydra-drive fluid-
6 quarts, Type-A/Dextron 3 equivalent?

*Hydraulic Fluid-
26 quarts,Type-A/Dextron 3 equivalent?
-Power steering,PTO, lift system all share this fluid?

*Transmission/final drive/diff-
40 quarts
80/90w gear oil.

*Engine coolant-
I see it just says 5 gallons.
Does this use typical automotive green coolant?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.. Also if you have a picture of the fill/check points for each of the fluid reservoirs.. That would be awesome!

Thank you!

I suggest you call the Floyd county museum at 641-228-1099. and you can order both an operators manual and service manuals for your 1550. All the information you need is in them.

Thank you for the reply.

Is there a possibility that you may have the manual?

I do have a IT shop manual.. but not the others. I didn't realize until after I really studied it alot.. That it leaves alot to be desired for specifics.

I am just trying to help a family member with this tractor they just bought.

When it got delivered. It was locked up and the seller did not want to take any responsibility for it at all.(in my other post I mentioned how the idler gear for PTO was seized up)
So they got stuck with an unfortunate problem..

I'm just doing as much as I can to keep them from spending as little money as possible.

If you can help I'd appreciate it!
Shawn

I use 10W-30 and ISO 46 hydraulic fluid in mine. There was a service bulletin to raise the transmission level to 48 quarts, it's covered in the I&T manual(see the picture). I had to repair the idler shaft on mine because the snap ring had worn almost through and the groove was nearly gone. I couldn't get anybody with a lathe to fix it so I did a hand tool repair with a drill press, bench grinder and files. Call Tim Smith, Smitty's Tractor 330 823-9792 or Maibach's for parts. Email is open.
