770 unleaded gas additive

I am thinking of firing up my old 770 gasser that has been sitting for a few years. The carb was worn out and the new carb has been on my shelf in a bag for too long. I used to buy a lead substitute additive to put in the gas but only have one bottle left on my shelf. I looked at an auto parts store and all they could offer was octane booster. What do you fellows out there use to keep the valve seats from wearing out when running unleaded gasoline?
 
Back in the 80's, I could buy tetraethyl lead. It came in gallon jugs and we mixed it accordingly. But that was then. Still have the same tractor today and I do not run anything in it. I have an 88 and do run it regularly. No issues.
 
We still have a local source for leaded fuel for off road use. Check with your farm fuel supplier. Down side is we cannot get it
delivered to the farm. Buy some extra cans.
 
I understand that it does have hardened seats. My late brother in law was that last White dealer in our local area and his mechanic rebuilt the engine in the 770 around 1990. It was my father in laws tractor and he bought it new around 1962?? Anyways, I remember my B.I.L telling me to make sure that I always use some lead substitute as the valve seats would wear out. I have a dual hydraulic control and a fuel tank out of an 880 diesel to drop in once I get the 770 back running.
 
A lead additive or a substitute is only needed for older automotive engines (early 1970's and older) and inexpensive small engines that do not have hardened exhaust seats.
