While re-installing the roosa pump (I left the shaft in the drive), slipping the pump back on the drive shaft I noticed that the drive assembly seems to move around a bit inside the drive housing. Is this normal? Also is the gear in the drive housing lubricated by engine oil? -thanks

Yes, it's normal. The pump housing brass pilot tube keeps the shaft centered, and engine oil lubes the shaft. Use PLENTY of SLICK lube on the rear seal and bushing bore when installing pump over the shaft/seal assembly. If the pump slides back and forth EASILY when over the seals, rear seal is in place OK. If pump slides HARD, then rear seal is rolled over..

Thanks for the info Dieseltech, I wondered if I curled the seal over putting it in -- but it slides easy back and forth. Great to know. Your check is in the mail.
