Oliver cylinders

I purchased two Oliver hydraulic cylinders. Hoses are shot. Anything I should check prior to putting on new hoses and hooking them
up?

Are they the hydralectric type? I bought one of those once and it had been disconnected with the depth control set about half way down. I never did get that thing moved.
If they're not that type,I don't know what you could find out about them until you hook them up and put pressure to them.

Yes, they are both Hydra-lectric. My Hydra-letctric system works on the tractor and I do have a hydra-lectric cylinder that works well.
I'll clean them up and see what I have.

   You can check the electrical part of it with an Ohm meter.   In the plugin there will be three pins, looking into the end the 12:00 pin is ground (green wire), pin at 9:00 goes to the electro magnet to hold the down stop when activated (black wire).   Pin at 6:00 goes to the down stop microswitch then to the up stop switch (white wire) These switches are in series, either one opens and it breaks the circuit.   If you take off the cover that has four screws, you should be able to ID the wires.    The down microswitch and the Up switch are in series and provide a ground path to complete the circuit for the coil in the tractor unit.   With the cylinder part way through it's travel you should have a completed circuit from the 6:00 pin (white wire) to the cylinder. The 12:00 pin is ground (green wire) should have a completed circuit from pin to cylinder also.   The 9:00 pin (black wire) goes to the coil in the end of the cylinder, when energized it creates a magnetic field to hold the down stop plate when changing position of down stroke.    How do I know the circuits?   When I started with the Company, the very first class that I taught was hydraulics & the General Service Mgr. from the Chicago Office sat in my class!

If you can still get them I would put new seals in them.
