White Red Stripes

What year did the red stripes come out...

growing up we had 2 4-150's, a 2-155 w m4wd and 4-270.. the 2-155 and the 4-270 had red stripes, the 4-150s did not.. I have since seen 2-135's 2-155s & 4-210s without

Thanks

I am not totally sure on the years but I believe in 80 and 81 they put red stripes on the White tractors. It was not until 82 that they came out with the red stripe Series 3. These had the completely enclosed cab and all of the controls on the right hand console. The cast iron was all painted charcoal grey instead of black. There have been a lot of older tractors repainted with a red stripe so the serial number is the only way to know for sure unless you recognize the other external features.

I believe so, yes, 81, when Texas Instruments took over and restarted production. Then the Series 3s came out in 82.

The stripe design that was used on the early White tractors was Copy Righted by White Motor Corp. When the Ag division was sold they had a certain length of time to use the design, thus the change to red strip.   The Ag division was sold to Texas Investment Corporation, not Texas Instruments.   They also owned Bush Hog & South Bend Stamping.   Don't remember all the details of ownership, that was 40 years ago!

I have a book titled "A Rich Heritage, a Solid Future" about the history of White tractors. The pictures attached are from the book and show that the stripe was changed to red in 1981.
