Super 88 Diesel Tach Drive?

I recently purchased a 1957 Super 88 Diesel. The question I have is that the tractor has a tach, but there is no tach drive on the engine block. There is not even a provision, from what I can see, for a drive system. Could this block or engine be out of a earlier model? And if so, what model?

Go around to the block by the starter and there will be some casting numbers there, Post those numbers to start with. Since your tractor is a diesel you could get attach drive that runs off the oil pump. Send me an e-mail iff you have more questions. J.
