What is different on a 1900 compared to a 1950 Oliver.I?m very familiar with the mfwa 1950?s.i know the engine?s should both be 453?s.so what?s different? There?s an online auction in Louisiana in June and they have one, can?t tell from the picture which model.is the difference on a 1900 obvious or is it internal?

Engine wise first 2 maybe 3 years (I cant recall without looking it up) 1900,s had 2 valve head, last 2 or 3 years, and all the 1950's had 4 valve heads. If you are wanting max H.P. you are better off with a 4 valve. 4 valves also had higher compression ratio. If you can get the serial number off of the engine tag that is attached to the valve cover I can look up the specs on it . I have pretty much a complete set of manuals for 2 stroke Jimmys if you need any info.

The 1900 checkerboard or A series tractors had the 4-53 S series engines ( 2 valve heads. The 1800 B & C series (serial number 124 396 and up have the N series engines with the 4 valve heads.

Actually they built 5 1900 row crops. One of them was recently found. It left the factory as a narrow front and was confirmed with the build card. The other 4 haven't been found.
