880 invoice

I found the invoice for the 880 my dad bought new. He traded in a Farmall M. Look at what they called options back then. The invoice says that it has a 3 point hitch. It actually has the traction hitch. He also bought a 3-14 5440 plow. I still have both.

Nice! We have 59 880 diesel row crop, and 59 880 diesel wheatland. Neither one quite as nice as yours though. Looks like you have done a complete resto on tractor and plow. Beautiful job.

Ran through an online inflation calculator for today's dollars, the 880 cost $43,125.39, the M brought 22,229.58 in trade, leaving a balance of $20,895.81. I guess things haven't changed all that much.

I have an 880 with the traction hitch. But it sure does not look as good as yours! Always wondered how well that tractor and plow setup worked? Still looking for one of those plows.

Wow, fantastic restoration and you have an incredible piece of history and legacy with your 880 and plow. Something to be proud of, thanks for sharing with us.
I'm also interested in how this setup plowed compared to a standard drawbar plow? What kind of soil in your area? Do you remember how fast or what gear you plowed in? Did the traction hitch actually help with traction?

Sharp tractor! Uncle Claud bought a new Deere 4010 diesel with a wide front and a 4 16 F145 semi mount plow in 61 for $6000.

Those tractors came out in 1958. I was in high school at the time. The local dealer let my dad demo an 880 with a 4 bottom plow and power traction hitch. My dad said he started up a clay hill and the front end came up. I was in school and never saw it. don't know if it had front weights or how many. I do know that using a 4 bottom pull plow on that same hill didn't cause the front end to come up.
