2-85 Clutch Problems

I have a 2-85, 1976 model, that I've had 3-4 years now. Yesterday, when someone working for me was using it pulling wagons of corn in from the field, they couldn't get it in gear. Push the clutch down, and
just grind away with the gearshift. I swapped tractors with the helper and ran it the rest of the day. Had to start it in gear sometimes, could shift between gears if you came to a complete stop and shifted
pretty quickly.

What am I looking at here? I got the book out to see if I can adjust it some more this morning, but there's a lot of travel in the lever coming out of the bell housing...

Thanks

Could be one of the release levers failed, and not pulling the pressure plate away from the disc evenly. That will cause hard shifting, or no shifting. Same thing happened to dad's MF 1100 recently, one of the levers broke after 7000 plus hours.

I had one of the fingers on the pressure plate wear right through and the throw out bearing went past it on my 1600 one time. The fork that holds the throw out bearing broke on the 1550. Either way,if that tractor has a cab, those and the 2-105s are the worst White or Oliver that there is to pull the engine out of to do a clutch job.

I thought about that too. This morning, I adjusted the clutch per the book and took the inspection cover off. I had dad rotate the engine and I looked at each finger and they are all there. The throw out bearing feels fine. Of course, you can?t see much there but it seemed ok? I?m not sure what to think now. I?ve been running wagons with it so far today and it?s hard enough to shift, but I?m managing, per say.

Luckily, it?s an open station!
