1967 Oliver 1850 Narrow Front to Wide Front

Well I really wanted an Oliver with a narrow front especially a 4 Digit and I was really excited to find the one I did.. well for my main tractor I ve come to find the narrow front to be a little inconvenient for my uses and some day if I can have two Oliver s one will be narrow and one wide....

My question is how do I switch them over once I find one? I ve never converted a tractor front end so I m not sure what what all is involved or needed here..

Also what is reasonable to spend for a front end and best place to look? I would think I could use my same wheels that came off the narrow front end and possibly the same hubs?
 
$300-350 is about average from one of those. I bought one out from under a White 2-105 for $200 including the cylinder and put it under my 1600. They'll bolt up to any four digit and have heavier spindles. To change it out,you'll have to take the cap off the top of the cylinder under the radiator,pop out a steel cap on the inside,then loosen that big bolt ( inch and an eighth wrench I believe). Turn that out until you feel resistance,then keep turning. It acts as a puller to pull the gear off the tapered shaft.

Once the gear is off,just unbolt the front end,jack the tractor up,take off the narrow front and install the wide front.
 
Did you get a wide front put on your 1850? Do you still have the narrow front? Will you consider selling it? We have a 1850 we d like to put a narrow front under.
 

I have not put a wide front under it yet. I haven t found one in decent shape for the right money.
 
If you are still interested in changing it to a wide front, maybe we can work something out. We have recently acquired an 1850 that we want to out a narrow front under.
