Super 55 steering

55 super steering with front wheels off ground easy turn right but harder to turn left have backed off adjustments on each side of steering box no change have 4 to 5 inches free travel on steering wheel but no end play on steering shaft when lift in steering wheel changed spindles and bearings a few years ago as all were worn badly as was a loader tractor any suggestions or am I looking at steering box replace or rebuild

That sounds like the classic lower bearing failure. Going by my feeble memory, the steering shaft "climbs" out of the lower bearing when turning left and binds the sectors. My Super 55 did the same thing and I rebuilt the steering box about 15-20 years ago using a "plastic" lower bearing upgrade for (IIRC) a Ford 8n. The box is very simple, easy to rebuild. Getting it out of the tractor is the hardest part of the job.

I agree. Lower bearing. Just had to rebuild one over the winter,same symptoms. Got the parts from Kent.
