1855 metal in hydraulic filter

Just replaced the hydraulic pump on a 1855. Fluid that came out when pump was pulled was not too old and perfecttly clean. All new hyd fluid and filter anyway with the new pump. after a few hours run time it made sounds from pump and lost pressure. Wasn't running hot. Pulled filter and found the metal. I was very careful and clean when assembling. Any thoughts where this could originate from? With the filter on the suction side should it be impossible for crap to go thru the pump?

Yes, as per bison (succinctly put it, I thought). The metal has not entered the pump and totalled it - the metal has likely originated from the pump.

You will confirm, or otherwise, after strip-down, no doubt.

Oh that?s what I was afraid of. Hope I can get it warrantied. Is it possible that somehow the filter isn?t ?filtering? or is bypassing in some way? I wonder if it would be worthwhile to plug the bypass on that? I am about out of energy with this thing. No easy way to clean out the tank now?

something similar happened to my 1855, last year about this time, the rebuilt pump had approx 400 hrs on it, took a dump, drained down the system, silver looking hyd fluid with about 10 hrs on the hyd fluid, removed the cab and all that goes with it, removed the hyd reservoir, to get to the pan and it was full of metal laded hydraulic fluid, cleaned all the lines, took the hyd levers valves apart to clean, its a job to do, then I up graded the hydraulic pump, Ag Parts First 866 264 9720 has all the parts needed to up grade, and the pump is cheaper than another rebuilt pump, I'm done with rebulit, reman pumps. Good Luck Larry
