It will likely be less torque to put it back on than to remove it!


Check out the bolt/stud sizes and thread form and then consult the numerous charts (on the web) for the normal tightening torques for your particular combination. Figures given will be for clean (or lightly lubed) threads in good condition.


Fixing diameter and thread form are more important than whether gasoline or diesel - or any other installation, for that matter.
 
30 foot pounds with clean oiled threads. Should be rechecked after warming up. This should have 3/8" studs.
