Good afternoon,
I ve been lurking here for a few years, but don t often have much to add to the discussion.
Anyway, I m working on rebuilding the steering gear I d on my 58 Oliver 550 diesel. I [u:ae33694380]thought[/u:ae33694380] I had it right. However, the hubs either toe in slightly too much or toe out WAY too much. I m now thinking that I somehow put the steering box back together wrong. Of course I already filled it with gear oil. :x
Before I open the gearbox, do I have the spindles right?
My spindle casting numbers are 1EAF714A (left?) and F102716A(?).
My parts book lists the following:
Right -
EAS-713-A
102 714-A
106 459-A
106 459-AS
Left -
EAS-714-A
102 715-A
106 460-A
106 460-AA
Assuming I need to adjust the steering box, how do I know when I have the sector gears positioned right?
I m happy to add pictures if that will be useful.
Many Thanks!
Nathaniel
