Oliver 28-44 ....extra parts

When I purchased this tractor this tank was with some extra parts that came with it; what is this and should I put it on the tractor? Thanks.

Looks like that is the tank for gas used to start the tractor when they used other fuels to run the tractor after it was warmed up to operating temp.

KL in Wi is correct, engine was started on gasoline then after warm up on gasoline, shut gasoline off and turn on main tank with kerosene. Before shutting ignition off turn off tank w/kerosene and let engine run till engine dies, (carb. empty). Cold manifold won't vaporize kerosene or distillate fuel, Dad found out the hard way, that's the way I know. From then on only gasoline was used in our tractors.

Thank you guys...I was thinking this maybe...I might try to find where it mounted and put it on even tho I wont use it. Anyone
have a pic of this tractor original seat and stand it sits on? I dont think mine is! Thanks!

Correct, but also needs the kd manifold to tun efficiently - otherwise not enough heat to properly vaporise the heavy fuel.

If it is a gasoline-only engine, the compression ratio may well be too high to run well on kerosene. Could be OK on a modern fuel mix, to emulate. kero.
